Life

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

verse 24

Truly, truly! "The honest to Gods truth!"

He that hears God's Word and believes on Christ! You cannot separate Jesus from the Word of God!

First, you've got to hear His word! "You'll have no ability to believe if you haven't heard His word!"

He that hears the word of God and believes on the Father who sent His Son, Jesus has everlasting life! This believer will never come into condemnation!

"He has passed from death to life!"

verse 25

An amazing three-fold miracle Jesus says will happen when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God!

1. The miracle of dead people the ability to hear the voice of Christ!

2.The miracle of the dead people coming to life at the hearing of the voice of God!

3.The miracle of hearing God's voice and still remain dead!

Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

8:19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

8:20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

"If you are are still dead, it's your own fault. Jesus said that now is the time for the dead to the voice of God and live!"

Jesus said: "The hour is coming and now is!"

That should tell you and me that God is speaking in this hour!

His voice is speaking clearly and distinctively in this hour and He is speaking through Christ Jesus through the Word of God!

"We must realize what kind of person, we want to be!"

Are we the kind that hears His word and lives or are we the dead that remain lifeless in the tomb that the world has bound and covered!

"We must realize if we want to remain dead or live!"

verse 26

Just as the Father has life in Himself, so the Son has the same life in Himself! "Out side of Jesus Christ, there is no life!"

verse 27

The Father has given Jesus the authority to execute:(to carry out with unlimited power to do all things right and pleasing to the Father!)

"What an awful place to be, a place where there is no life."

2 Peter 2:1-22 False prophets will come that promise life but bring bondage and then destruction.

"When Noah and his family stepped off that ark, there was no life except what was coming out of the Ark!"

That Ark was Jesus! Life will and can only come out of Jesus Christ!

John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

"But the sad reality of after Noah and his family stepped out of the Ark and back into this world, even though all other life had perished, they still had to deal with their own flesh that by nature is opposed to everything that God is and represents!"

Our only hope is in Christ and staying in Christ!

"Life"

2Kings 8:4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

Elisha's name means: God of suppication, or of riches.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

"That recompence of the reward is life!"

"Life is founded in Christ!"

"I want to talk to you today about Life. In it's truest meaning, in Christ!"

Account of Gehazi, the servant of Elisha being asked by the King :

2Kings 8:4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

Turn in your Bibles to:2 Kings 4:8-37

Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Read 2 Kings 4:8-37

2Ki 4:11 And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.

2Ki 4:12 And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.

2Ki 4:13 And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.

2Ki 4:14 And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.

2Ki 4:15 And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.

2Ki 4:16 And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.

2Ki 4:17 And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.

"The woman chose life!"

2Ki 8:1 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

2Ki 8:2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

2Ki 8:3 And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

"The woman has returned to claimed what is hers."

2Ki 8:4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

2Ki 8:5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

2Ki 8:6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

The servant said to the King: " This is the woman I'm talking to you about!  This is her son who was raised from the dead!   She obeyed the voice of God to sojourn where ever she could for seven years because of the famine God would bring to her land. She left her home and land but she's returned! She made through the famine by faith and she's knocking on your door now!"
God gave her back everything! She lost nothing!  She may have been a little uncomfortable for awhile, but she hasn't lost anything serving God!   God gave it all back!  "He'll do the same for you when you fully trust Him and obey Him!"

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

"There is life in Christ for all who seek the Lord and do His will!"
